A striking frame design
In 2018, the Drone School Tokyo Group opened its first branch at Odaiba Venus Fort.
By expanding the efforts of that first branch, the group has now successfully franchised nationwide.
The secret to their success lies in their well-thought-out branch opening plans and branding.
Drone schools require large floor space, large ceilings, and are noisy, so suburban warehouses have traditionally been the primary locations. We wondered if we could take advantage of this and set up a school in an easily accessible location with the minimum necessary floor space and ceiling height, and came up with a branch opening plan to locate the school within a commercial facility.
The interior design incorporates the AIDMA theory, which represents the psychological flow of consumers from awareness to purchase. The school space incorporates mechanisms to guide customers through each step: awareness (Attention), interest (Interest), desire (Desire), memory (Memory), and purchase = membership (Action).
The Ebina branch will open in a commercial facility in front of the station.
The space was open and mostly white, with no clear aisles or sections. We needed to make sure the drone school didn’t blend into the surroundings and could easily catch people’s attention.
The designed school space is completely black—floor, walls, and ceiling—so it stands out from the bright white surroundings. The court and lounge are finished in blue, and a huge wall graphic facing the shared corridor grabs the attention of people walking by.
From the lounge where visitors gather, they can watch drones flying around the court.
The blue pillars between the courts are linked with wood, creating a strong visual frame.
In front of this, a feature wall with graphic signs highlights the many possibilities of drones and helps guide visitors’ interest and attention, further promoting the AIDMA flow.
